Omaha Police Kill Kidnap Suspect

The suspect, identified as Noemi Guzman, refused repeated orders to drop the knife before officers opened fire to protect the toddler.

The child was rushed to a local hospital with a large laceration across his face but is expected to survive.

Authorities stated that the kidnapping appeared to be a random act and that Guzman had stolen the knife from the store's kitchenware section.

The shooting is currently under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol to ensure all protocols were followed during the lethal encounter.
