Fuel Protests Paralyze Ireland

Fuel Protests Paralyze Ireland

Slow-moving convoys of tractors and trucks have blocked major motorways and port access points, driven by anger over energy costs that have soared since the war in Iran began.

In response, Prime Minister Micheál Martin announced a €505 million support package and new tax cuts, though critics argue the measures are insufficient.

A junior minister has already resigned in protest of the government's handling of the crisis, joining the opposition in calling for a change in leadership.

Authorities have warned that further blockades will not be tolerated and have begun arresting protesters for dangerous driving.
