Obesity linked to young cancer

A comprehensive study published by the Institute of Cancer Research and Imperial College London has linked the global obesity epidemic to a surge in cancer cases among adults under 50.

The research identified 11 specific types of cancer, including bowel, breast, and liver cancer, that are becoming increasingly prevalent in younger age groups.

Scientists noted that while other risk factors like smoking are declining, rising body mass index levels are reversing progress in public health.

The report calls for urgent government intervention to promote healthier lifestyles and address the 'silent epidemic' of liver disease across Europe.
