Venezuela Quake Toll Passes 3,500

The confirmed death toll from Venezuela’s twin June earthquakes climbed to 3,535, with over 16,000 injured and thousands displaced, as families were still digging through rubble with bare hands twelve days after the disaster.

Crews dug more than 150 graves for unidentified victims at La Esperanza Cemetery, while no official figure exists for those still buried, though more than 30,000 people have been reported missing.

International rescue teams have begun to withdraw even as some families continue to search for missing relatives.

The UN coordinator in Venezuela warned that rebuilding would require unlocking frozen assets and restoring access to multilateral financing.
