UK mini-heatwave hotter than Greece

A dominant high-pressure system is bringing clear skies and unseasonably warm weather across the country from Liverpool to the south coast.

The warm spell has prompted early arrivals of UK-grown strawberries in supermarkets, nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.

However, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has urged caution as the dry conditions increase the risk of blazes in rural areas.

The pleasant conditions are expected to persist through the May bank holiday weekend.
