Deadly Landslide in China's Chongqing

A devastating mountain collapse in China's Chongqing municipality killed at least eight people and left 34 missing after heavy rainfall triggered the landslide on Friday.

The slide buried more than 10 buildings, and rescue crews are racing against time amid ongoing heavy rainfall to find survivors, with more than 1,100 people evacuated from the area.

State broadcaster CCTV reported that emergency teams are working around the clock at the disaster site.

The extreme weather event is the latest in a series of deadly landslides to hit southwestern China during the summer monsoon season.
