US court strikes down 75-country visa ban

Federal Judge Jeannette Vargas issued a 61-page opinion describing the visa policy as arbitrary and contrary to the immigration law.

The rule would have affected hundreds of thousands of process applications from Latin American, African, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries.

The court found that Secretary Rubio cut a wide range of statutory obligations without a legal basis.

The nonprofit and individual plaintiffs argued that they would lose opportunities for family reunification and employment.
