Mark Carney Wins Majority Government

Prime Minister Mark Carney's Liberal government has officially entered a 'majority era' after winning key seats in Ontario and Quebec.

The sweep in University–Rosedale, Scarborough Southwest, and Terrebonne brings the Liberal count to 174 seats in the 343-seat House of Commons.

Carney has vowed to use this new mandate to focus on affordability and infrastructure, immediately announcing a temporary suspension of the federal fuel excise tax.

The win strengthens Carney's position as a leading global centrist figure, even as opposition leader Pierre Poilievre dismisses the results as the product of backroom deals.
