DOJ Sues Over Undercover Plates

The Trump administration has launched legal action against Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington for their refusal to provide confidential license plates to ICE agents.

The Department of Justice argues that these "sanctuary" policies unconstitutionally impede federal law enforcement and place agents at risk by making their vehicles easily identifiable.

The lawsuits are the latest escalation in a bitter feud between the federal government and Democratic-led states over immigration enforcement.

State officials have countered that they are not required to assist in federal crackdowns that they believe violate civil rights.
