Israel expands Lebanon buffer zone

Israel expands Lebanon buffer zone

Israel's establishment of a restricted 'no-go' zone in southern Lebanon has drawn sharp criticism from Hezbollah and Lebanese authorities.

The military has been ordered to use 'full force' against anyone approaching the line or attempting to reoccupy booby-trapped structures.

This strategy mirrors measures previously implemented in Gaza and is seen as a major hurdle to a permanent peace agreement.

While a 10-day truce remains technically in effect, the killing of two Israeli soldiers and a French peacekeeper has underscored the extreme volatility of the border region.
