Pussy Riot protests in Venice
Dozens of activists from the anti-Kremlin art collective Pussy Riot have held a demonstration in Venice to oppose Russia's return to the Biennale.
The group waved Ukrainian flags and chanted slogans against President Vladimir Putin at the world's oldest international art exhibition.
The protest, which also involved the activist group FEMEN, highlighted the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and criticized Russia's participation for the first time since the 2022 invasion.
Protesters argued that 'blood is Russia's art' and called for a cultural strike to boycott the Russian pavilion.
The demonstration has shaken the exhibition, bringing the turmoil of international politics directly into the heart of the prestigious event.
