PCOS renamed PMOS

Health experts have officially renamed polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) to improve diagnostic accuracy.

The move aims to address the misconception that the condition is defined solely by ovarian cysts.

PMOS reflects the complex hormonal and metabolic nature of the disorder, which affects one in eight women globally.

The updated name is expected to reduce stigma and lead to better care and awareness for those living with the condition.
