China's Mega Embassy in London Faces Court Challenge

China's Mega Embassy in London Faces Court Challenge

Local residents have taken the UK government to court over its approval for China to build a vast new embassy in London, arguing that officials failed to consider the impact on protests and the potential targeting of dissidents.

The legal challenge, heard in the High Court on Tuesday, claims the decision ignored risks to Uyghur and pro-democracy activists.

The embassy would be one of the largest in Europe, on a site near the Tower of London.

Critics say the approval process was flawed and lacked transparency.
