Gilgo Beach killer pleads guilty

Rex Heuermann’s guilty plea marks the conclusion of the notorious Gilgo Beach investigation, which began with the discovery of remains in 2010.

The architect admitted to strangling eight victims and discarding their bodies along the New York coastline between 1993 and 2011.

As part of his agreement, Heuermann will provide interviews to the FBI's behavioral unit, potentially assisting in the resolution of other cold cases.

Families of the victims expressed a mix of relief and sorrow as the serial killer was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
