Iraq Arrests Officials in Major Anti-Corruption Sweep

Iraqi security forces arrested several politicians, lawmakers, and senior officials in dawn raids across Baghdad as part of a sweeping anti-corruption campaign ordered by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.

Elite Counter Terrorism Service units sealed off all entrances to the capital's heavily fortified Green Zone and carried out operations inside the compound that houses key government institutions and foreign embassies.

Reports indicated that up to 47 officials were detained in the crackdown.

The operation represents one of the most significant anti-corruption actions in Iraq in recent years.
