Alex Saab deported to US

Venezuela has deported Alex Saab, a close ally and alleged 'bag man' for Nicolás Maduro, to the United States to face criminal charges.

The move comes less than three years after Saab was pardoned by President Joe Biden as part of a prisoner swap.

Venezuelan authorities determined Saab was a Colombian national, allowing for his expulsion despite constitutional prohibitions on extraditing citizens.

The deportation was reportedly carried out with the assistance of the CIA and FBI, marking a dramatic shift in relations between Caracas and Washington.
