India Launches First Hydrogen-Powered Train
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first hydrogen-powered fuel-cell train from Jind in Haryana, marking a major milestone in the country’s push for cleaner rail transport.
The indigenously developed train, named NaMo Green Rail, carries about 2,600 passengers and emits only water vapour.
The service connects Jind and Sonipat, replacing conventional diesel locomotives on the route.
India joins a select group of nations that have successfully deployed zero-emission hydrogen technology in their rail networks.
