Ebola Cases Surge Past 800 in Congo

Confirmed Ebola cases in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have surged past 800, with the Africa CDC warning the outbreak could become the worst on record.

The number of confirmed cases has increased to 837, including 196 deaths.

Health workers are struggling to track transmission chains as treatment centers overflow.

Oxfam has warned that the number of cases is likely higher than official figures, and experts say it could take as long as a year to contain if infection rates do not flatten.
