I Am Maximus wins Grand National

The victory marks a record-equalling third consecutive Grand National win for Irish trainer Willie Mullins, matching the feat of the legendary Vincent O’Brien.

I Am Maximus, owned by JP McManus, overcame top-weight to win the incident-packed race, which saw several horses fail to finish.

One horse, Get On George, was tragically put down after suffering a fatal injury during the meeting’s second race.

Jockey Toby McCain-Mitchell was also hit with a 10-day ban for failing to pull up a tired horse before the final fence.
