EU Proposes Social Media Curbs for Kids
The European Commission will propose legislation to limit children's access to social media platforms, with a recommended minimum age of 13 and time-limited access for younger users.
The plan follows a report highlighting the harm social media causes to minors, and von der Leyen emphasized the need to protect children's development.
The proposals, expected after the summer, could force platforms to prove their services are not harmful before young people can use them.
The move aligns with a growing global consensus on restricting social media for children.
