Brighton beach rape convictions

A jury at Hove Crown Court convicted the three men following a five-week trial that detailed the horrific events of last October.

Two of the men repeatedly raped the unconscious victim behind a beach hut while the third recorded the ordeal on a mobile phone.

The court heard that one of the defendants, Karin Al-Danasurt, was a fugitive wanted for murder in Egypt who had entered the UK via a small boat.

The Home Office has confirmed it will move to deport the men 'off British soil' following their sentencing, as the case fuels ongoing debates over border security and asylum protocols.
