Israel and Lebanon agree ceasefire

Israel and Lebanon agree ceasefire

The United States has brokered a temporary 10-day cessation of hostilities between Israeli forces and Lebanon, set to begin immediately.

President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement after separate consultations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

While the truce is a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Netanyahu has emphasized that Israeli troops will remain in a reinforced security zone within southern Lebanon.

The ceasefire is seen as a critical prerequisite for resuming stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran regarding the broader Middle East war.
