Lyrids meteor shower peaks tonight
The Lyrids are one of the oldest known meteor showers, with records dating back over 2,500 years.
At their peak, observers could see up to 100 meteors per hour, including occasional bright fireballs that leave glowing trails.
NASA astronaut Jessica Meir has already shared stunning images of the event captured from the International Space Station.
The best time to view the shower is after midnight when the constellation Lyra is high in the sky.
