Indian Education Minister Resigns Amid Protests

Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down as India's Education Minister on Saturday following 36 days of continuous protests spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party, a youth movement that began as satire but swelled into nationwide demonstrations.

The protesters demanded accountability for leaked medical and other exam papers, as well as an end to police action against those who had taken to the streets.

In a significant concession, the government agreed to drop cases against demonstrators and appointed Pralhad Joshi as the new minister.

The resignation was hailed as a victory by the movement, though many protesters vowed to continue their campaign until the NEET examination system is abolished.
