Trump Administration Reclassifies Marijuana

In one of the most significant changes to U.S. drug policy in decades, the Trump administration has moved to reschedule marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche signed the order, which places cannabis in the same category as substances like ketamine and anabolic steroids.

While the move does not legalize marijuana at the federal level, it removes major barriers to scientific research and legitimate banking for the industry.

The decision has drawn mixed reactions, with some Republican allies criticizing the move as a step in the wrong direction.
