USS Gerald Ford returns home

The USS Gerald R. Ford has returned to Virginia following an 11-month deployment, the longest for a U.S. aircraft carrier since the Vietnam War.

During its mission, the carrier supported operations related to the Iran war and the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The Pentagon awarded the carrier strike group the Presidential Unit Citation for heroism during its 326 days at sea.

The return marks the end of a historic deployment that saw the world's largest aircraft carrier operating across the Middle East and the Caribbean.
