Trump wants Eisenhower building white

President Donald Trump has sparked a preservationist outcry by proposing to paint the historic Eisenhower Executive Office Building white.

The 19th-century landmark, known for its distinctive French Second Empire architecture and gray granite facade, would be permanently altered by the plan.

Trump argued that the current color is "gloomy" and that a white finish would better match the neighboring White House.

Historians warned that the paint would trap moisture and cause irreversible damage to the building's ornate stonework, calling the proposal a "vandalism of history."
