Deadly Landslide in China's Chongqing

A devastating mountain collapse in Pengshui County, Chongqing, killed at least eight people and left 34 missing, with rescue crews racing against ongoing heavy rainfall to find survivors.

The landslide contained about 18,000 cubic metres of rocks and debris, with the largest single rock measuring around 3,000 cubic metres.

Over 1,100 people were evacuated from the area as China activated a Level II national emergency response.

Dashcam footage captured the moment a section of hillside collapsed onto homes and businesses below, sending debris across the road.
