Chad water resource clashes kill 42

Violent clashes over dwindling water resources in eastern Chad have resulted in the deaths of at least 42 people.

The conflict erupted in the Wadi Fira province between members of two rival families, quickly escalating from a localized dispute over a well into a series of brutal reprisal attacks.

Chadian military forces were eventually deployed to the region to restore order and establish a buffer zone between the warring factions.

The incident highlights the growing threat of resource-driven violence in the Sahel, where climate change and population growth are placing unprecedented strain on vital water supplies.
