DOJ Indicts Southern Poverty Law Center

A federal grand jury returned an 11-count indictment alleging that the Southern Poverty Law Center improperly used donor funds to pay leaders of hate groups for inside information.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the scheme ran from 2014 until 2023, misleading contributors about how their money was being utilized.

The SPLC has vowed to vigorously defend itself and its staff against the charges.

The indictment has drawn swift reactions from groups previously targeted by the SPLC's 'hate map,' many of whom view the charges as long-awaited vindication.
