Israel and Lebanon hold talks

Brokered by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the rare face-to-face meeting between Israeli and Lebanese envoys marks a significant diplomatic milestone.

The discussions focused on a long-term vision for a delineated border and the potential disarmament of Hezbollah, though the militant group has already stated it will not be bound by any agreements.

Despite the 'historic opportunity' hailed by US officials, the lack of a formal ceasefire means that active hostilities continue on the ground.

The talks are viewed as a preliminary step in a complex process to decouple Lebanon from the broader regional conflict with Iran.
