Russian jets intercept RAF plane

The UK Ministry of Defence has confirmed that two Russian fighter jets 'dangerously' intercepted an RAF surveillance plane over the Black Sea.

The incident saw the Russian aircraft fly within six metres of the unarmed British plane, disabling its autopilot and triggering emergency systems.

The MoD released footage of the Su-35 jets carrying out the maneuver, describing it as the most aggressive Russian action against a Rivet Joint aircraft since 2022.

UK officials issued a defiant message to Moscow, stating that the RAF will continue its routine operations in international airspace.

The encounter highlights the growing risk of a direct clash between NATO and Russian forces as the war in Ukraine continues to escalate.
