Iran seizes ships in Hormuz

Tensions in the world's most critical oil chokepoint have reached a new peak as Iran asserts control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC claimed the seized vessels had tampered with their navigation systems and were operating without authorization.

The White House has stated that the seizures do not violate the current ceasefire as the ships were not U.S. or Israeli flagged.

However, the move is seen as a direct challenge to the U.S. naval blockade and has caused global oil prices to surge above $100 a barrel.
