Trump and IRS Settle Tax Lawsuit
The long-running legal battle between President Donald Trump and the Internal Revenue Service may be nearing a conclusion as both sides seek a multi-billion dollar settlement.
The lawsuit, which also names the Treasury Department, alleges that the agency failed to prevent the leak of Trump's tax documents during his first administration.
Former IRS contractor Charles Edward Littlejohn was previously sentenced to five years in prison for the breach, which Trump's legal team argues caused unprecedented damage to his privacy and business interests.
A resolution would end a significant legal distraction for the White House as the midterm elections approach.
