Alexandre Ramagem Detained by ICE
The six-month international manhunt for Alexandre Ramagem has ended in the United States after he was detained by ICE agents.
Ramagem, a close ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role in a failed scheme to prevent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from taking office.
Brazilian officials are expected to seek his immediate extradition to serve his sentence.
The arrest is a major development in the ongoing investigation into the events surrounding the 2022 Brazilian election and the subsequent unrest in BrasĂlia.
