Trump Pays $5.6M to E. Jean Carroll

President Donald Trump has paid $5.63 million to writer E. Jean Carroll, satisfying the judgment from the 2023 civil trial in which a jury found him liable for sexual abuse and defamation.

The payment was made from an escrow account after the Supreme Court declined to hear his appeal.

The resolution of this case clears one legal front for Trump, though a much larger $83.3 million related judgment still looms.

Carroll's legal team confirmed receipt of the funds, closing a chapter in a case that has shadowed Trump for years.
