Trump visa‑bond rule for 50 countries
Effective immediately, citizens of 50 countries must post a $5,000 bond when applying for a U.S. visa, according to a White House statement.
The rule is intended to deter fraudulent applications and increase scrutiny of travellers from regions deemed high‑risk.
Critics argue the policy is discriminatory and could harm diplomatic relations.
The Department of State says the bond will be refunded if the visa is not used for illegal activity.
