US Blockades Iranian Ports

Tensions in the Middle East have entered a dangerous new phase as the U.S. Navy begins enforcing a blockade of all maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.

The move follows 21 hours of failed negotiations in Islamabad between Vice President J.D. Vance and Iranian officials, primarily stalled by Tehran's refusal to abandon nuclear fuel enrichment.

Global oil prices surged back above $100 per barrel as markets reacted to the potential for a prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.

While the U.S. claims the action is necessary to end 'global blackmail,' NATO allies have largely refused to participate in the enforcement.
