FIFA announces World Cup rules
FIFA has approved new disciplinary rules for the 2026 World Cup, including automatic red cards for players who cover their mouths during verbal confrontations.
The measure is part of a broader anti-racism initiative intended to prevent players from concealing discriminatory language.
Additionally, players who walk off the pitch in protest of refereeing decisions will also face immediate ejections.
These regulations were unanimously approved by the International Football Association Board at a meeting in Vancouver.
