Rumen Radev wins Bulgaria election

Bulgaria's eighth general election since 2021 has resulted in a decisive win for Rumen Radev's Progressive Bulgaria coalition.

Radev, a former fighter pilot, campaigned on an anti-corruption platform and a desire to resolve diplomatic issues with Russia through pragmatic talks.

The win comes just a week after a similar pro-Russian turn in Hungary, raising concerns in Brussels about European unity.

Radev's mandate is seen as a rejection of the weak and unstable governments that have plagued the country for half a decade.
