UN peacekeeper killed in Lebanon attack

The death of Staff Sergeant Florian Montorio has drawn sharp condemnation from French President Emmanuel Macron, who blamed Hezbollah for the fatal shooting.

The incident took place near the village of Ghandouriyeh while the UN patrol was clearing a road.

Hezbollah has denied any involvement in the attack, which threatens to undermine the tenuous truce brokered earlier this week.

The UN has launched an immediate investigation into the 'terrorist' act as displaced Lebanese families continue to return to their homes in the conflict zone.
