Carney stands firm on trade
In a series of pointed remarks, Prime Minister Mark Carney addressed the growing 'trade irritants' between Canada and the U.S. under the Trump administration.
He indicated that provincial bans on American alcohol could be resolved 'quickly' if the U.S. first addresses its penal tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum, and lumber.
Carney's administration has launched a new economic advisory committee, including former Conservative leader Erin O'Toole, to present a unified front.
The Prime Minister remains prepared to wait on trade talks until the U.S. shows a willingness for genuine give-and-take negotiations.
