Viktor Orbán ousted in Hungary

Péter Magyar, a former insider turned opposition leader, led the Tisza party to a projected supermajority in the Hungarian Parliament.

Magyar campaigned on a platform of rooting out corruption, restoring the rule of law, and repairing strained relations with Brussels.

The defeat of Orbán, a key ally of Donald Trump, has been greeted with relief by EU officials and the Ukrainian government.

Magyar has already indicated a willingness to review Russian energy contracts and end the obstruction of European aid packages to Kyiv.
