Fatou the gorilla turns 69

Berlin Zoo has celebrated the 69th birthday of Fatou, the world's oldest known gorilla living in captivity.

The western lowland gorilla was treated to a special feast of vegetables and fruits to mark the milestone.

Fatou arrived in Berlin in 1959 and has outlived the typical lifespan of her species by several decades.

Zoo officials highlighted her longevity as a testament to the specialized care provided to endangered animals in captivity.
