Two UK police officers killed in wrong-way crash

A car with cloned plates collided with an armed response vehicle on the A66 after police called off a pursuit seconds earlier.

The crash killed two police officers and three other people, with five victims named by authorities.

PC Matthew Blades's widow paid tribute to his 'courage, dedication and selflessness,' saying he was her beloved husband and best friend.

The watchdog is investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.
