Israeli soldiers jailed for statue vandalism
The IDF investigation found that the soldiers used a sledgehammer to desecrate the religious icon and then photographed the act.
While the military has replaced the crucifix, the event has fueled tensions in the region during a fragile 10-day ceasefire.
Six other soldiers who witnessed the vandalism but failed to intervene have also been removed from combat duty.
Netanyahu expressed 'stunned sadness' over the incident, emphasizing that the actions do not represent the values of the Israeli military.
