EU Fines Temu €200M

EU Fines Temu €200M

Temu has become the second major company to be sanctioned under the EU's Digital Services Act, following a 19-month investigation into its business practices.

Regulators found that the platform systematically exposed its 130 million European users to high-risk items, including hazardous toys and non-compliant electronics.

The 200 million euro fine reflects the severity of the safety breaches and the company's failure to implement adequate risk assessment systems.

Temu has disputed the ruling, calling it excessive, but the EU has warned that further penalties could follow if the retailer does not bring its platform into compliance.
