Samsung Chip Workers Avert Strike

Samsung Chip Workers Avert Strike

Unionized workers at Samsung Electronics have voted overwhelmingly to approve a new wage and bonus agreement, ending a month-long dispute that threatened to disrupt the global semiconductor supply chain.

The landmark deal includes special bonus payouts for employees in the top-performing memory chip division, which has seen profits soar due to the global AI boom.

While the agreement averts an 18-day strike, it has also highlighted growing disparities within the company's workforce.

Some employees in non-chip units have expressed frustration over being excluded from the most lucrative parts of the profit-sharing arrangement.
