Judge Freezes Trump 'Slush Fund'
A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from moving ahead with a $1.8 billion compensation package for political allies.
The fund, which critics have denounced as a 'slush fund,' was created as part of a settlement of a civil lawsuit against the IRS. U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema issued the order to ensure that no taxpayer money is disbursed until a full legal hearing can take place in June.
The lawsuit challenging the fund argues there is no legal basis for using public money to compensate individuals who claim they were targeted by the government under previous administrations.
