Teacher Guilty of Adopted Baby's Murder

Jamie Varley, 37, was convicted at Preston Crown Court of murdering Preston Davey, who died in July 2023 with over 40 injuries on his body.

His partner John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, was convicted of allowing the death of the vulnerable child.

The jury heard that Varley, described as a "serial manipulator," treated the baby as a "plaything" and subjected him to months of horrific abuse.

It emerged that Preston's biological mother was a convicted murderer who had been jailed for killing a pensioner when she was just 14.
